Online competitive intelligence service Experian Hitwise released its US search market share results for the month of February 2010. Google continues to be the runaway leader in search market share with 70.95 percent of total US search volume share for the four weeks ending February 27, 2010. Yahoo!, Bing, and Ask.com received 14.57 percent, 9.70 percent, and 2.84 percent, respectively. The report goes on to state that the 73 other search engines in its Search Engine Analysis Tool accounted for 1.94 percent of U.S. searches.
This marks the third consecutive month that Bing has gained market share – from 8.92 percent in December 2009 to 9.70% in February 2010 – and the third consecutive month that Google has lost market share – from 72.25 percent in December 2009 to 71.49 percent in February 2010.
Nevertheless, Google’s share of the US search market continues to be greater than all of the other search engines in the Hitwise – combined.
