The biggest thing that seems to be missing from virtually ever real estate marketing professional’s toolkit is a solid search engine marketing strategy (and I’m not talking about paid search, only organic search).
The vast majority of pages that are ranking at or near the top of the search results (local and non-local) for a number of geo-targeted keywords with high search volumes should not rank where they do by all rights.
They are simply there because they are, as is the case in many businesses, the “best of the worst.”
A solid SEM effort that focuses on organic local and non-local could easily propel a realtor’s website to the top of the search results in many cities.

Is AgentPress easy to customize with a custom css file or custom php file?
It’s not the easiest route to go, depending on the level of customization you may want.
There is a list of AgentPress-approved coders, which is nice to have but also, of course, adds to the complexity and cost.
A great alternative is the Frugal Theme for WordPress. It is not designed specifically for any type of profession but you can see an example of a real estate website that was built using Frugal by clicking on the link at the bottom of this reply and scrolling down to Kendra Todd Group at the bottom of the page.
Frugal is “stupid simple” to customize without any knowledge of coding whatsoever.
It takes full advantage of WordPress hooks and widgets and, therefore, has tons of drag-and-drop functionality.
This site was built using Frugal for WordPress. I’ve been thinking about making some changes to it, so check back tomorrow and you’ll see a site that has a completely different look.
And I am not a coder at all.
